a random thought

Why is the big red, white and blue country spending billions sending troops to afghanistan/pakistan/ (goodness knows where else) when there are children in africa starving to death.
How is it that so much money can be spent on wars and destruction, destruction that is not actually needed. Why not fix something that is actually ‘broken’? Instead, YOU, yes, YOU being the *blank* *blank* are spending millions on crap, basically.
Michael Jackson was right. We need to save this planet, protect it, make it better. How about by starting with the poor? Feed them. Give them clothes and fresh drinking water.
How about troops going on strike? Refusing to join? Why do these guys keep going to fight unnecessary battles? There is no war on terror. Leave these countries alone and maybe they will leave you alone too. What do you think? You reading this, Mr O?

Short answer: We have no interest (aka oil) in Africa.

Condensed but longer answer: It reaches all the way back to Israel. America hasn’t been ‘attacked’ by terrorist groups because of our presence in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. (OK, a little, but not entirely). The attacks are because America basically refuses to allow a war between Palestine (and surrounding Arab countries) and Israel. When things get a bit too heated, we immediately jump in and protect Israel. Who, well, in reality… have no business being there. If America would stop defending everything Israel does, and perhaps move them into America (though we didn’t want them back ‘in the day’), the terrorist attacks would more than likely be reduced dramatically. Sadly, when a Palestinian attempts to defend his home, family, land, etc. he’s accused of being PLO, or part of a terrorist organization and the Israelis use this as an excuse to wage war… again and again. Similar things took place in Iraq as American soldiers were kicking in doors, screaming and shouting in English, not using translators, and killing anyone who attempted to defend his family claiming they were ‘uncooperative’ and/or ‘behaved like a terrorist’.

I agree — let’s feed the kids in Africa and get out of the ‘killing innocent people’ business.

I don’t think there will ever be a day when America will not defend Israel. Until then as you say, we will continue to be at war with each other. 😦
