Time for YOU to help!

24 Nov

The Ministry of Interior has urged blood donators to heed to the requests made by the Central Blood Bank, In a recent statement issued, the bank stated that it suffers from low inventories in blood.

I also received a BB Broadcast and a Whatsapp re this…there is a massive blood shortage.

It could be your child that needs it.

Anyone above 18 years of age can donate blood, provided you produce your CIVIL ID. The blood bank is located behind Mubarak Hospital in Jabriya.

Did you know?

You can donate blood three times a year.

You only lose about 470ml, which is just under a pint.

Donating blood reduces high blood pressure.

You can get more information from here and here.

They used to pay people for it here- don’t know if they still do, but that might be an added incentive for people who don’t see how important it is.

I gave blood recently at the Kuwait Blood Bank and was very impressed by the nurses and staff there. It is not the most pleasant experience but if you go with a friend you can always have a giggle about something or other to keep your mind off it (I have a phobia of needles and usually faint at the sight of blood but when lying down, I was ok). Feels good to do something positive that will inevitably help someone out. If you choose to go, check the times and go early. I was there almost first and by the time i left, it was pretty crowded.
