It took 4 years, but it’s finally here…Hydropolis

11 Oct

The Hydropolis Underwater Hotel and Resort is situated just off Jumeriah Beach, Dubai. Don’t believe it? Well, it’s true. Dubai have taken the X out of Extreme and created the first underwater hotel, ever!

Not sure whether I would actually stay here or not…something just feels slightly ‘the day the earth stood still’ freakishly scary about it. Are we taking things to the extreme a tad too much?

The hotel includes three areas; the land station, where guests will be welcomed, the connecting tunnel, which will transport people by train to the main area of the hotel, and the 220 suites within the submarine leisure complex.

It was due to open at the end of 2007 but is infact opening this week…they started in 2006, 4 years later and they have finished, better late than never I suppose.

My verdict: I’d rather stay above water, although, I suppose this could be the way forward…avoids all tsunamis, hurricanes, tornados…any world disasters really….2012..hmm..

Not just our tomatoes…there goes the Zubaidi too….

11 Oct

So, we aren’t only paying 800fils per kilo for tomatoes…our fish prices just soared too. When will this stop?

We are turning into the UK…soon Kuwait will be introducing tax.Look at the above picture, for those that don’t know the conversions…that’s around 2.2kd per kilo……..good aul harrods eh? Charging that much for French tomatoes………………LOL. Ridiculous.

Zubaidi is now sitting at about 12kd per kilo.

For goodness sake, it’s just fish!!!

So, we’re all to stop eating meat and ‘fruit’ (since Tomato is actually a fruit not a veg) and eat what exactly?

It’s green beans from here on in.

Perhaps we should all just try the baby diet………..pureed broccoli and potatoes.

You can read more about these price hiked here over at the Kuwait Times and another article, Zubaidi or Gold.

Ice Land Dubai Opens!!

A global-warming-run-amok water park in Ras Al Khamiah, an hour from Dubai is bringing the icy, snow-covered Antarctic tundra to the hot, dry Arabian Desert — complete with hundreds of tuxedoed penguins!!! How cool is this!!

It features 24 water slides streaming from five snow-clad mountaintops with names such as Mt. Fury and Mt. Iceberg! It also has a disco pool! A soccer pool field and even better, to enter the park you have to walk under a 120 ft man-made waterfall!! Sound awesome?!

Check out the aerial shots!

Prices aren’t too bad..

Below is a park map, if you click on it, you can enlarge it and see all they have to offer!
