Another ‘nailed’ maid…this time from Kuwait?

12 Nov

Another ‘nailed’ housemaid returns

Apparently another housemaid has return to her own motherland covered in nails, just like the one from Saudi……only this time, she was reportedly in Kuwait.

Suraj A Bandara reported on Sri Lankan’s Daily news..

Doctors found around 14 nails hammered into her body. Several had been removed after a surgery at the Kurunegala Base hospital. The woman Lechchami, 38, had been admitted to hospital November 9 after complaining of pains.

“Action could have been taken if she complained from Kuwait,” he said. T. Ariyawathi working in Saudi Arabia returned to the country in August with 23 nails embedded in her body.

Ten little things that bother me

8 Nov

My maid bothers me. A lot.

1. She has recently started to pick her nose while talking to me – trying to wind me up? I’m not sure.
2. She sings these gawd awful songs while cleaning and it’s only when she’s cleaning the kitchen – entertaining the cooker?
3. I bought her matching uniforms. She insists on wearing the wrong top with the wrong trousers. Red top + pink trousers – massive no. 4. She smells…all the time. No matter what deodorant I buy her, she smells. I’m actually thinking it’s her natural odour now.
5. No matter how many times I’ve told her, you don’t have to call me ‘madame’, she still does it.
6. She removes things from the bin that I’ve put there – knickers with holes in them. Socks with holes in them. Perfume bottles with a dribble left in them – u name it, she takes it.
7. My son’s name has become something completely different and it sounds like some foreign animal. Please don’t nickname my son.
8. She doesn’t eat. Well, she does bes only pasta EVERYDAY!
9.
10.

I know I said 10 but I couldn’t think of two more. These will be updated in due course.
And before someone starts directing me to ‘rights for domestic workers’… My maid has an ikea bedroom. All my ‘hand me down clothes’ and new things that I’ve bought her, as much food from my cupboards as she wants (even though she only eats pasta-i don’t get it) and is treating like one of our family. She will even be accompanying us over the winter break to the UK!

a random thought

Why is the big red, white and blue country spending billions sending troops to afghanistan/pakistan/ (goodness knows where else) when there are children in africa starving to death.
How is it that so much money can be spent on wars and destruction, destruction that is not actually needed. Why not fix something that is actually ‘broken’? Instead, YOU, yes, YOU being the *blank* *blank* are spending millions on crap, basically.
Michael Jackson was right. We need to save this planet, protect it, make it better. How about by starting with the poor? Feed them. Give them clothes and fresh drinking water.
How about troops going on strike? Refusing to join? Why do these guys keep going to fight unnecessary battles? There is no war on terror. Leave these countries alone and maybe they will leave you alone too. What do you think? You reading this, Mr O?

Miss Simpson on her way!

29 Sep

Miss Jessica Simpson is on her way to Kuwait. She will most likely arrive sometime tomorrow morning/lunchtime for those wishing to catch a glimpse. She will be performing for the troops at the camps, north and south.
Wish just once we could have a concert for us. Taxpayers money in the states are paying for her to fly here, first-class…good their money is going somewhere useful.
Thank God we don’t pay tax, eh?

Japan clamps down on fat people

28 Sep

I’m not going to comment on this …ok, I am. WHAT THE FUCK?

Japan have now made it ‘illegal’ according to National Guidelines to have a waistline of more than 33”

see for yourself 🙂

I can totally understand why a government would try to make a healthier nation… but isn’t this taking things a little too far?

Tom Cruise in Dubai!

28 Sep

Within the next few weeks, Dubai will be taken over with film crew and camera rolls.

The new Mission Impossible 4 is to be filmed in Dubai!

Preparations for filming in Dubai have been agreed with the production company, Paramount, following two months of meetings and location scouting.

The film will be directed by Brad Bird, known for pictures such as “The Incredibles” which grossed more than $261 million in box office takings in 2004, and “Ratatouille,” which won the Oscar for best animated film in 2007.

The only leaked actor is Tom Cruise so far…wonder who else will be showing up?!

This isn’t rotation, this is preparation.

Well, it seems I’m not the only one thinking..the question isn’t IF but WHEN… Dailymail1 has also been thinking along the same lines as myself.

So, here’s what I’m talking about……..

Michigan – 700 deployed to Kuwait

Monatague – Troops headed to Kuwait NOT Iraq

Rhode Island – Troops from Rhode Island headed to Kuwait

West Virginia – 1800 Troops from West Virginia heading to Kuwait

NH – The biggest deployment since WWII heading for Kuwait

New England –  Deployment commences

Ok, you get my point, I’m not posting any more links BUT ….there are also troops heading here from Florida, Minnesota, New York,  New Hampshire, Delaware, New England and Lousiana………these are the ones that I have found so far….

So- HERE IS MY QUESTION.

WHY?

Are America going to give us a ‘false flag’ attack?

Are Iran going to hit Israel?

Are Israel going to hit Iran?

Are America going to hit Iran?

Well………………………………

All I can say is, God Help Us.

Update: Just read two more .. Alma and Tennessee National Guard also on their way.

This isn’t rotation……….this is preparation.

Cover of Daddy Day Care (Special Edition)

I just finished watching ‘Daddy Day Care’. I love that movie. Eddie Murphy is hilarious and his son….well, absolutely adorable. It got me thinking, how would that work for my husband and I? I go to work, he stays at home and becomes a househusband…

What’s a househusband? A stay at home dad or house husband is a term many westerners use to describe a father who is the main caregiver of the children and/or is the homemaker of the household. As families have evolved, the practice of being a stay-at-home dad has become more common…

How would that work here?LOL…oh I shouldn’t laugh because I’m one of the lucky ones, my husband irons his own shirts, can make his own dinner and if I wanted him to, could clean the house and do a pretty good job…he even changes diapers and makes up bottles of milk…long term tho? No, I don’t think he could cope.

Stay at home dads in the western world are still stereotyped but it is becoming more and more socially acceptable…here, however, it would be totally unacceptable due to the culture.

So when did it become OK for men to ‘stay at home’? How did this change come about?

Well it dates back to World War Two. Everything started to change in WW11, the vast majority of men had to go to war and therefore women had to fill many positions that would have been deemed unsuitable. This increase in working women became one of the few times in history where women were praised for work outside the home.

So is there an advantage to a stay at home dad rather than a stay at home mum?

Personally, I love being a stay at home mum.

I enjoy every minute I spend with my kids BUT the bond between father and child is just as important as the mother’s in the overall social and emotional development of a child. Emotionally and mentally father’s may actually help their children long term, mothers reassure toddlers when they become frustrated while fathers encourage them to manage their frustration. This helps the children learn to deal with stress and frustration which is important to achieve at a young age.

A 1996 study by McGill University found that the “single most important childhood factor in developing empathy is paternal involvement in childcare.

So there you have it Dads…you are as equally important if not more in the first five years of your child’s life.

So, no matter how tired you are from work, take an hour out of your day and spend it with your kids! Take them to play ball or go for a walk…spend some time with your kids, it’s not only the mums that matter!

Life is not a soap opera

2 Sep

Say the two words, ‘soap opera’ today and the first thing that might come to your mind is Paris Hilton’s life.

Scandal? Drama? Intrigue? Vanity? Petty feuds and vendettas? Check.

Slutty boots? Check

Arrested? Check

Released and re-arrested? Check.

Sex Icon? Check

Drama Queen? Check

Life in Kuwait is becoming very ‘Paris Hilton’ish’… Betrayal, Deception, Lies, Drama, lots and lots of drama…

Speaking of drama… I loved this

What is the cause? Too much television? Too much westernization? Or, are people just losing their self-respect?

Television teaches. If it didn’t, there would be no commercials on the screen, because advertisers want people to learn a behavior,

to learn to buy their products. So, what do you think of these shows that we have been seeing for the last 3 weeks? What do they teach us?

During this holy month, should we not be learning about discipline, poverty and the right thing to do, the right path to lead? Instead, all I have been seeing/hearing is lies, deception, adultery and so much more…

We should use television to save life on Earth not destroy it.

Many people here watch ‘Desperate Housewives’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Zawarat khamees’ madre sheno ba3ad bes.. these are television shows. That’s it. Life is not a soap opera.

Just a few days ago I was watching a show and the man was running off to live his life with two maids? Another show, girl was having a relationship with her teacher? Is this ‘HEALTHY’ tv? That one guy that tells you after 12 hours that he loves you – he doesn’t. That one girl that tells you your the only one for her after 12 hours – your not. Just because Eva Longoria can run off with the gardener in Desperate Housewives doesn’t mean you can.

To come out with a statement like, ‘ana free, ana open minded’ …..it’s bull****. Do you know the definition of having an ‘open mind’? Here in Kuwait this statement has taken on a whole new meaning.

Just to clarify, it does not mean, here’s the green light.. and you guys know exactly what I mean by that.

Angel Ivy as Masked Midia

For godsake, get a grip on the real reality..you are NOT living in a Soap Opera.

You have responsibilities to yourself, your family, your job and your studies.

Time to Grow Up?

Time to remove your mask and start living in the real world.
