Bye Bye Pen and Paper

6 Nov

What happened to pen and paper? Internet has taken over.

I miss pen and paper.

It’s sad to think, my daughter won’t have a diary. I had a diary since the age of 8. It was Winnie The Pooh and it had a lock on it. I kept it under my mattress and funnily enough, my mother never ever ‘sneaked’ to read it. Every night, I wrote down what I had done that day…what I had achieved, what I had found difficult… my daughter’s diary will be right here, this…a blog… I’m sure of it and I suppose, that’s ok.

Hell, my diary has become my blog to a certain extent. Years ago, when I first started off, in my late teens, my blogs were horrific…tears….tantrums…crushes…breakdowns…heartache…all rolled into one. I don’t know how my readers stayed with me for so many years. I hit 150,000 views in a year and stopped. It was a good blog. And, no, before you ask, not a chance am I telling you what it was called.

We all need to just ‘vent’ sometimes. This week, a friend ‘passed away’, well, it was suicide. Scary thing is, I’ve just got more details and apparently he didn’t trust anyone and thought that the majority of people that surrounded him were infact, ‘spies’….lordy lord, im not joking. Sad, tragic, infact…

I will encourage my teenage daughter to blog, venting is good, expressing oneself is always good. Blocking everything up inside is bad…really bad.

So, all mums out there, let your daughters blog… and to all ladies out there, say what you want, say how you feel, remember, it’s just a screen, no-one actually knows who you are 🙂

And to all those other mums with young daughter, get your daughter a diary and a pen!

Is gray hair ever fashionable?

4 Nov

Apparently so….

For decades men and women have been trying to mask signs of aging, but a new wave fashionable gray hair is reflecting a shifting attitude regarding the physical effects of getting older. Celebrities with gray hair are letting their natural roots show, and for their spring 2010 shows, Gareth Pugh, Giles Deacon and Proenza Schouler paraded models down the runways with silver locks.

I think I’ll stick with my Clairol number 7…

A view of Harvey Nichols in London

Image via Wikipedia

Well, big news!! Harvey Nichols is coming to a mall near YOU! Harvey Nichols have announced the opening of its first store in Kuwait, with the help of the Middle East franchise operator Alshaya…thank you, Mr. AlShaya.

The store, which will be situated in Kuwait’s largest shopping destination, will cover over 10,000-square metres of retail space and will stock Harvey Nichols’ most popular brands and designer names. The store will also house the signature Fifth Floor Restaurant concept, which was originally created for the Knightsbridge flagship but is now synonymous with the Harvey Nichols name.

“Our own research and experience points to a strong market for the brands offered by Harvey Nichols,” Mohammed Alshaya, executive chairman of MH Alshaya Co, said as the partnership was announced.

Harvey Nichols, too, is hopeful that the union will be highly prosperous. Joseph Wan, the company’s chief executive, is “confident that Harvey Nichols will experience lasting success with Alshaya”.

The store is set to open its doors in spring/summer 2011.

OK, Now I have a request! Please, Mr.AlShaya BRING PRIMARK!! Thank you 🙂

Katy Perry does it ‘Hindi’ Style

23 Oct

Well, looks like the ‘girl that kissed the girl and liked it’ has married that idiot, Russell Brand.

The nuptials were held at Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, India, the same spot where the quirky couple got engaged on New Year’s Eve.
While details are scarce on the über-couple’s wedding, hotel employees were seen adorning bird cages with flowers earlier in the day. Media stationed outside of the wedding also reported that the sounds of Indian instruments and songs from Rajasthani folk musicians could be heard from outside of the resort.
Even though Rihanna and Katy have had ‘obvious bust-ups’ in the past, it seems Rihanna was there.
Last Sunday, Brand tweeted this: “@katyperry YOU’RE A HACKER, A BAD WIFE AND YOUR NATURAL HAIR COLOUR IS GINGER. There’s not enough dye in the world to rinse away the lie.” That message came a few minutes after Brand seemingly tweeted, “My farts smell.”
Yes, lovely…that’s definitely the type of husband that I would like to have.
For those that don’t know know who he is…have a look:

Don’t lose your faith

14 Oct

Wow, this week has been slow, it started off alright but just got worse as the days went on. Anyway, this isn’t going to be a moan and a groan!

It’s Thursday and that means one thing – FAMILY TIME! Yay!

My husband works such long hours and by the time he gets home…he’s exhausted from work and I’m exhausted from being with the kids all day. We don’t get much time together, but, this weekend, we are going to make time for each other! Even if it’s a ten minute…nevermind..cuddles are good…perhaps, a walk on the beach, tomorrow evening… but first thing is first…the weekly grocery shopping which means one place and one place only! LuLu! Yes, I still heart LuLu…

No matter how bad your week is, remember, it’s only life… live it to the full, don’t lose your faith, don’t run away….

Enjoy your weekend EVERYONE!
