It’s almost, Summer!

5 Oct

God, I’ve been sooo busy, it’s ridiculous. Anyway, I’m back now! I promise!

Decided where you are going next summer yet? No,I’m not mad but you need to start planning! It’s almost December! Really! It will be next year before we know it!

Make sure you go picking out the right outfits though……..

The Balmain Spring 2011 collection filled the Paris Fashion Week runways with a variety of punk-rock styles that shocked its viewers. Featuring more safety pins than stitches, the models strutted down the catwalk in ripped tees, studded biker jackets and stained jeans.  – safery pins, ripped tees and studded biker jackets……..so, how exactly are Kuwait going to make this one work? Hmmmm…

What you think? Thumbs up or down?

I want a bumpit!

16 Sep

So, I’ve covered fashion trends, how about hair trends for Winter 2010/2011?

Any ideas? Well……keywords here are BIG, MASSIVE, BEEHIVE and BUMPIT.

So, for years and years, we have always backcombed and had a ‘puff’ here in Kuwait but FINALLY the western world are following suit. Only problem is, they have created a much easier way to achieve the ‘puff’.

The disadvantage to our method yani ‘backcombing’ is the disastrous effects it has on our hair. It permanently leaves the hair damaged and splits the ends.

So thank goodness for the latest hair accessory… the BUMPIT…. What is it? Well, it looks like this…

and EVERYONE is using them..

If you want to have a go yourself, here’s a tutorial on how.

I saw them in Sally’s in the UK but not sure what the equivalent of that is here, maybe the hair centre in Salmiya.

I think you can probably find these Bumpit’s in Claire’s Accessories in Kuwait, will check and let you guys know.

Haute Hijabs

14 Sep

Designers have discovered hijabs have a wide appeal with Belgium. Women around the world are responding to the high-fashion scarves and head coverings that are the work of contemporary hijab fashion company Noor D’Izar.

While many Muslim women may or may not choose to wear hijabs, Belgian designers Fatima Rafiy and Inge Rombouts are hoping that non-Muslims will see their appeal. – not sure how this will go down from the religious perspective..

You watch the interview with CNN here

The company are actually looking for sales reps worldwide if anyone is interested:

I’d kill for a pair of those Jimmy Chuggs

23 Aug

So any kind soul out there who has a pair and needs a tester….here I am.

But seriously folks, it’s coming to that Eid time of year again- we need to go and battle the shoppers and I just can’t be bothered. I’m thinking of recycling some flares from the 70s this year and chopping one arm off a flowery shirt, and creating a whole new image.

Here are the places to avoid over the next two week nights in Kuwait, unless you are prepared to fight for that parking space:

360 Mall- do we even need to say that?

Avenues- unless you want to drive around and around and around and STILL end up at the IKEA entrance

Al Bairaq- aint nothin’ goin’ on there matey

Souk Sharq- and then pop over to Al Balad revolving restaurant for a quick snack, try the coriander and garlic french fries.
